Be Intentional About Using Your Spiritual Gifts
Being intentional about using your gifts is like “understanding the assignment”. God put you here for a reason.
Welcome to the 95th issue of The Aim and Soar Life, a weekly newsletter about faith, personal growth, and lifestyle that provides actionable, relatable, and biblically rooted content to help you live abundantly and GROW YOU. GOD’S WAY.
Happy Sunday Fam!
Are you still working toward your 2024 goals? Studies show that people normally “quit” their resolutions by the 19th of January. As I stated in a previous post, that’s why I didn’t make any resolutions this year and haven’t for several years. I always seemed to run out of steam and quit.
So, what am I doing?
I’m glad you asked.
I’m focusing on life goals like using my gifts to advance the kingdom by witnessing to others about Christ and increasing my spiritual growth and my mental and physical health.
My great big plan is to operate in my calling! I’ve been called to teach the Word of God and exhort. These are my gifts.
What is your calling? What have you been gifted to do?
It’s time to get intentional about using your gifts!
When we accept Christ as our Savior, the Holy Ghost gives us each a spiritual gift or gifts.
7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by [a]the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
1 Corinthians 12:7-11, NKJV
You may have more than one gift, but you at least have one. Your gift is unique to you! No one can use your gift the way you can. For example, you may have the spiritual gift of teaching (SEE Romans 12:6-8), and you may have a friend who also has the spiritual gift of teaching. However, you will each demonstrate the gift of teaching according to the unique qualities God gave you when He created you.
You have a specific assignment that can only be done by you!
This brings me to a question: Do you know what your spiritual gifts are?
Identifying Your Spiritual Gifts
If you don’t know what your spiritual gifts are, I invite you to take a spiritual gifts test. It can help you to determine your gift or gifts. I have taken several over the years and they have been pretty accurate for me. I recommend taking a short one and then a more comprehensive one. Most are free online in exchange for your email.
After you’ve done that, then what?
Well, the first thing you should do is figure out how you can utilize your spiritual gifts at your local church because your gifts are about edifying the body of Christ, which is the church, and advancing the kingdom.
There is no job too small or too large when it comes to utilizing your gifts. I always say, “Get in where you fit in.”
Knowing is Half the Battle
Knowing what your spiritual gifts are is only half the battle because sometimes using your spiritual gifts can cause you to walk in uncharted territory. This may cause you to feel insecure or not adequately prepared. But I assure you God has given you what you need.
Being intentional about using your gifts is like “understanding the assignment”. God put you here for a reason. Your life is divinely orchestrated by God. He chose you to do a task or tasks. And He is there to help you along the way.
You must commit to giving what God has given you right back to Him. Honor Him with your gifts. Use your treasures to glorify Him by serving others. There are people who need what you have. Don’t hold back from giving them what they need because you are keeping your gifts to yourself.
Commit to doing the following this week:
1. Identify your spiritual gifts.
2. Use your spiritual gifts at your local church.
3. Encourage someone else to do the same.
Peace and Love
Until Next Time,
GROW YOU. GOD’S WAY.

P.S.
I’d LOVE for you to meet me on the web:
I met a women who feels she has no purpose in life. When we aren't using our gifts we can feel useless. Using our gifts give use purpose. God is revealing Himself to us as we are obedient.
