Happy Sunday, Friend!
This month’s theme is Preparing for Your Blessings!
Keeping our theme in mind, what great things are you expecting from God as you close out the year? Or has life taught you to be afraid to expect great things because you have been disappointed so many times before?
Sometimes when we are in a season where we are waiting for God to move in our lives and He doesn’t move within our time frame, we get weary and lose hope.
Even the best of us experience these feelings—at least temporarily—from time to time.
We begin to wonder if God is listening to our prayers, or we question whether or not we have done something wrong that is preventing us from moving beyond the pain or discomfort in our lives.
But there are tried and true reasons why, no matter what our circumstances look like, we should always expect great things from God.
God’s Unlimited Mercy
First, we can expect great things from God because His mercy is unlimited. Too often, we get caught in a trap of false thinking and believe that our lives are beyond repair and that we’ve messed up too badly for God to do anything with us. This is a lie!
There is no shortage of God’s grace and mercy!
Scripture tells us that His mercy is renewed every morning. It’s not running out. That means He has more than enough mercy for your particular situation.😍
22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.Lamentations 3:22-23, NLT
My stepfather, Willie, passed away in 2011 and I took great pleasure in writing his obituary. His life story was admirable. It was a testament to what God can do when things look like a mess. After serving his country in the Vietnam War, Willie became addicted to drugs. He spent a great part of his life fighting those demons and even ended up homeless.
One day while his life looked like nothing, when he was on the streets living in a way he had never lived in all his life, He said God spoke to him and asked him if he was tired of living like he had been living. That moment changed his life.
Willie began attending Narcotics Anonymous meetings at a local church and renewed his commitment to Christ. Shortly after, he enrolled in college and began to get his life on track. He subsequently earned an engineering degree, got a good job, and became a staple at his church, serving in various ministries, helping others reach their full potential and discover the purpose God planned for them.
He met my mom after he had been in church and been clean for about 3 years. They married some years later and Willie purchased my mom her dream home! They traveled frequently and served together at church until God called Willie home after a battle with cancer.
Some people gave up on Willie when he was living a life outside of God’s will. But God never did! Because of Willie, many people turned their lives around. God did great things in Willie’s life.
Things may look hopeless. Your situation may seem dire. But I challenge you to forget what it looks like!
I understand that life gets crazy. Just when you think you’ve tackled one problem, it seems that another is waiting around the corner to turn your life upside down.
But God goes ahead of us! He knows what you are dealing with now and He knows what you will encounter in the future. And the best thing is knowing that He is prepared for whatever is up the road, even if you feel like you aren’t.
God has endless mercy; therefore, you can expect great things from Him!
God has the Power
You should also expect great things from God because He has the power to do what no one else can. That’s some hallelujah news if you missed it!😁
He can do more than you have ever dreamed of and bless you in ways you weren’t even considering.
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
Ephesians 3:20, NKJV
Those around us may love and support us, but they cannot be to us what God wants to be to us.
When you pray according to His will, God is ready to respond to you from His vast amount of “holy resources.”
My pastor always says, “God has resources we don’t have!” And that couldn’t be truer.
Whatever you are going through, God has the power to bring you out of it and bless you in a way that aligns with His will for your life.
It’s the season when some of us celebrate the birth of Christ by purchasing gifts for our loved ones. We take pride in picking out the perfect items. We are motivated by the smiles we will see on the faces of our loved ones as they open the gifts that we’ve spent our time and effort picking out or creating.
What a great feeling it is to be able to give and have someone really enjoy their gift from you!
I’m here to tell you that God can do unimaginably better than us when it comes to gift-giving!
God knows what you need and has the power to give it to you!
11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Matthew 7:11, NKJV
I invite you to keep praying and expecting great things from your Holy Father in heaven!
Peace and Love
Until Next Time,
GROW YOU. GOD’S WAY.
